i’m thinking of buying a house with a lockup garage, but i want to convert the garage to a cottage so that i can get a tenant and let it.
At the moment it’s just an open space with two garage doors (roller shutters)
Can someone sketch me an idea of what do do with it?
I’d say the space is around 5m X 13m maybe

It’s gonna need a bath/toilet a kitchen (doesnt have to be too big. maybe it can be an open-pan lounge/kitchen)
1 bedroom, maybe 2 if it can be squeezed in (i know… almost impossible)

perhaps you can also suggest how much space i’d need to fit in 2 bedrooms, a lounge, kitchen and bath/toilet (with some space for closets in the rooms) … and sketch that if possible

We just bought a house. it has been vacant for a year. There is mold on the out side of the kitchen cabnits,in the cabnits its on all the wood molding top and bottom, in the window seals, under the bathroom sink, under the kitchen sink.I had realy nice cabnits intell I cleaned them all with bleach. My Husband and his brother and his best friend keep telling me its because the house has been shut up for a year just let it air out and it will be fine so they all say.Well I think in my past I remember my Father saying where there is mold there is water problems some where, could it be because of water condentation? I know I spellt that wrong, any way all the water pipes to me look like they are sweating. The pipes are copper. The house smells of mold.Iam realy worryed that we bought a house with a bad mold problem. The house was bank owned, a forclosure as is, We wunted to have the house inspected before we bought it but the bank said no because it was as is,which I have never heard that before. The house was built in the 40s It was a seasonal cottage then turned in to a yera round cottage it is very tiny but any way its are house now. Please if anybody knows what I can do to fixs the mold problem and does anyone think my therey could be right?and is Husband and friends wrong?Any help I need all I can get!!! I need some advice , my little girl is 6yrs , all her wardrobes, chest, bedside cabinet and iron bed frame is all in white, with white blinds and voile/tulle white curtains. The main bedding will be white with a throw at bottom and a chunky knit blanket.
I have got a laura ashley throw for the bed (geralidine) and matching cushion , also some nice gingham check(heath green) and pink polka dot material for cushions , i will paper the one wall where her bed will be in laura ashley abbeyville(cream background with little pink/green rosebuds)
MY DILEMA is – what colour to do the walls and what colour carpet- do i go pink or green.
Should i match the carpet with the wall colour ??? Please help needed, how do i accessorise this room to make it girly without looking too green or too pink?
The throw is below

We live in a period property and all three cottages are the same but how do we find out if they have been extended at the back (to accomodate kitchens and bathrooms)
The walls are all incredibly thick (as are most period properties) inc the rear walls but if it was extended a long time ago they may have made them as thick as the originals? Who would have the information?

I have recently renovated my kitchen and have a new 900mm wide cooker.

I am looking for a cottage style hood maybe something along the lines of an old fire place, to place over the cooker and install an extractor fan up inside.

Having done some reserch I have dicovered to buy it will cost me more than the cooker!

So I have started thinking about building one myself. Some of you my be thinking "A cooker hood out of wood!!!" Well all fitted kitchens with extractors have chipboard housings and wall cupboards either side, so I’m sure it can be done. Has anyone got any practical advice regarding materials paint/finishing options installing extractor inside the cooker hood

Many Many thanks
