I have an empty wall in my master bedroom and I don’t know what to do with it. There really isn’t any room to put furniture against it. It is on the south side of the house w/ a small window. It’s a LOOOOONG wall too… The bed is close-by and there is enough space to walk back and forth to the bathroom. My walls are a buttery yellow and the theme of our room is shabby chic/cottage style….If you have any ideas or suggestions, please share them w/ me…it is driving me craaaaaazy….!!!
) Thanks!!!
Will you share your ideas for decorating an empty wall?

Shabby chic’s style allows for many possibilities to decorate your long wall where you cannot place any furniture.
First, I would exaggerate the size of your window by hanging drapery which is stacked on the wall and just covering the moldings; and or a valance that is hung above the window and also covers the moldings. By using this technique, you are making the window proportionate with that long wall.
Secondly, because you cannot place furniture on the wall, you will need to hang something on the wall of interest that goes with your theme. Would you consider something architectural, like some sort of aged white ornate wrought iron fencing sections? Or large ornate candle sconces. A collection of framed vintage hanker chiefs or framed pieces of vintage fabric. Narrow shelving with a collection of vintage items such as milk glass or old bottles or plates with roses or silver candle sticks.or collection of a few pieces of vintage clothing hung on old fashioned hangers.
You can install a narrow shelf with old corbels as brackets with a 1"x4" piece of wood directly under the shelf for pegs or vintage hooks where you can hang dried flowers, vintage clothing or what have you?
You can find all sorts of things at a salvage yard that scream shabby chic. Hunt flea markets, second hand stores, the GoodWill, the Salvation Army and the like. You are bound to find something that catches your eye. Oh, the possibilities !!
Textiles. rugs, cloth, ect. Tack them up.
I love seamstress’s ideas they’re all fabulous but I wanted to suggest maybe a hanging waterfall! It really adds tranquility!
