What do I do with this carpet?

March 26, 2010 · 3 comments

I am renting a house and it is a little too late for him to replace the carpet. He just replaced it the problem is it’s RED. I love the shabby chic look but I don’t think red would go with that! What other decorating style should I use that captures that cottage look but can handle a red carpet?

Cottage Nautical: Red, cream or white, shades of light blue or navy. Nautical accessories with shells, ropes, seaside prints.

Cottage Vintage/Shabby Chic: Cabbage rose fabrics with pink flowers and coordinating stripes, wicker furniture or white painted furniture.

Cottage Citrus: Lemon Yellows, Lime and Apple Greens and Apple Reds

Cottage Contemporary: Add turquoise and black with white to add some drama to the red carpet.

So, you do have some choices here. Just use the only red in the room as the carpet and not so much in the accents or accessories. Good Luck

might as well become a Crimson tide fan, get Alabama memorabilia and decorate accordingly.

Red and white are big shabby colors.
Checkered red table clothes or throws.
Red rose fabrics.
Vintage red canisters…

Look in Thrift stores, antique shops etc.

Buy white lamp shades and add red furry boa to them.

Think of garden picnic… Find a vintage table. Paint the chairs red and weather them.

There is so much you can do.
