Do I have to decorate my whole house in just one style?

June 12, 2009 · 4 comments

I want to redecorate several rooms in my house, but I like different styles for different rooms- cottage, country, traditional- nothing too different but different color schemes and such. Would this look too crazy?

NO! This would look awesome!!! It's too boring to keep the same theme throughout the entire house. I think you should do it. You should also try this virtual room designer out:

You have the kitchen, living room, dining room, bedroom, bath etc. options…. pick traditional, classic modern? and start changing up wall colors, ceilings, flooring options, area rugs options and so much more!!! This is perfect for you since you're doing your whole house… all the rooms are there for you to play with online. Its free, its super easy to use, and its so much fun! :) I hope you get some really good ideas from this site! ALSO: if you wanna go real crazy - - :) haha . there is an AD there for shaw…. go and take a picture of each room you want to design… upload and click on that advertisement…. upload and you can virtually design your OWN room, right online! Helps you budget (since you wont go out and buy everything until you see it first) AND that's super easy too! Hope this helped! Have fun! Good luck! And go for it!

it's a good idea to hold the 'public rooms' to either ONE style or to styles that mix well… like oriental and modern and contemporary do…. public rooms being the living room, dining room and kitchen….. the thing is, color is the UNIFYing bit…. if the colors flow, so do the rooms….

you wouldn't want to walk from a contemporary living room into a country kitchen and eat then, in a Tuscan dining room… you'd be lost!!

the private rooms, your den, family room, your bedrooms, can be whatever you want them to be as long as you can close the doors!!… *smile*….

It wouldn't look too crazy. There are no rules to living how you want to unless you are trying to sell it. Have fun with it and do it exactly how you feel comfortable.
