Decorating tips for a gothic style living room?

April 17, 2009 · 4 comments

Hi!

I want to redecorate my living room on a budget - I like the style it is in, it just needs repainting. The walls are currently white with black beams, a dark blue carpet and a dark blue and gold sofa. The style is kinda like a gothic cottage. I want to repaint the walls, but don't really want white or cream - can anyone suggest a colour or shade that would look ok?

Thanks in advance.

If the sofa is ornate, I think a rich red or burgandy would look good.

How about gold? You can get metallic suede paint that goes on in a textured finish.

Since you like the style and you just want to repaint, your color is going to have to do a lot of decorating for you! Research faux finishes, in shades of green.

If your stuff is dark blue, you might want to go with a shade of purple to compliment them. Maybe something in an eggplant or plum shade.
