Beach themed room?

March 10, 2008 · 5 comments

I have a very small room and I am looking to decorate it florida/beachy relaxing style. I want it colorful and fun though! Any ideas, comments, links, anything that would help me design it would be helpful! Thanks so much!

try going for a simpler style room. keep your bed a solid color but change your walls up some. buy some funky pillows and pretty much anything you like and fits what your looking for. go to ikea or something.. :)

I have a “Beach theme” in my downstairs bathroom & it’s very small. One idea is hang some old fishing net up. I have mine on the ceiling with shells, starfish & sand dollars in it!

I’d paint the walls a light and bright aqua blue. Keep your furniture in ivory, off white colors. Anything can be painted, just use primer on the surface first and follow with your chosen color. Have your main bed covering in white or ivory, with colorful throw pillows in neat colors, like yellow, turquoise, lime green. Get a basic lamp shade and hot glue, shells onto it. Play up the aqua walls with a brighter shade of aqua blue curtains or even a deeper blue for some contrast. Have a white or ivory fake fur type rug by your bed. Put up pictures with beach scenes, boats, etc. Make sure all your picture frames are all of the same style, in white, ivory or blue shades. Have fun!

Ideas — take some of those woven beach mats and use finishing nails to attach them to the bottom part of your walls like a wainscoting; get a chandelier at a resale shop or thrift store & drape with shell necklaces; use clear bright colors like those in tropical fruits.
